Summer Reunion and AGM

St Anselm Hall Association

The Association’s Annual Reunion is held at the Hall every summer, usually on the weekend after the end of the summer term. Accommodation is available, for those who require it, in the Hall, and also in Canterbury Court (the new Hall on the site of the old Eskdale building) where the rooms are all en-suite.

The programme starts with afternoon tea in the quad, after which the Association holds its Annual General Meeting, which all members are most welcome to attend, and where the Association elects its Committee for the forthcoming year. Following the AGM, a short chapel service is held, before a sherry reception and formal dinner, always of the highest quality.

Then, over port and coffee, the assembled diners are entertained by an after dinner speaker from amongst the ranks of Old Anselmians, and in recent years speakers have included Barry Munslow, Professor of Politics from Liverpool, Air-Vice Marshall Peter Liddell and former Warden Geoffrey North. After the conclusion of the formal part of the evening, diners usually stay and chat over coffee, or go down to the Cellar Club bar, where the still scandalously cheap prices serve as a reminder to student days past.

The reunion is attended by Old Anselmians from every age group, from the pre-war years to those who have left but a week before. The dinner is open to all Old Anselmians and their invited guests and all are made to feel most welcome, no matter how long or short the period since their last visit.

Summer Reunion 2023 – Saturday 8th July

This event provides an ideal opportunity for members to reacquaint themselves with old friends, and an excellent way to celebrate the number of decades since first coming up to Slems, particularly if in an ‘-2’ year.
