London Dinner

St Anselm Hall Association

For a number of years the London Dinner was held in the Hughes Parry Hall at the University of London. More recently it has changed to the Savile Club and moved forward in the year to October. Presently, the event is held at The Travellers Club along Pall Mall in the centre of London and occurs near the beginning of November. This is a less formal occasion than the annual reunion and aimed at all those based in or near the capital, whether recent graduates in their first jobs, or more established Anselmians.

There is a specific mailing list for this event; if you have slipped through the net and would like to be added to the list, please write to the Association via the Hall. The mailing list has recently been dramatically updated, and we do therefore expect to have larger gatherings than in recent years; do come along and enjoy yourself!

Friday 3rd November 2017 | Travellers Club, Pall Mall, London

Once again, we have great pleasure in inviting you to the annual London Dinner for Old Members of St Anselm Hall and a tradition stretching back to 1932.
The arrangements are:
Friday, 3rd November, 2017, at 7.00pm at: The Travellers Club, 106 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5EP.
(Nearest Tube stations: Piccadilly Circus, Charing Cross, Green Park; limited parking nearby)

This is always a well attended and happy event, bringing together old and new friends alike, for an update on the hall and its activities with the Warden, Dr Ben Walker. The Travellers is a private members’ club, designed by Sir Charles Barry and opened in 1832; its Library is famous, said to be the favourite of Sir John Betjeman and where HM the Queen Mother held her staff Christmas parties.

The Club’s dress code requires jacket and tie for gentlemen. As before, partners and lady guests are very welcome (

The cost is £50 per person to cover a hot buffet supper with wine; cash bar also available.

It is an established custom that we invite a small number of current Hall students to attend the dinner, to give guests a first-hand impression of the Hall today and to introduce themselves to the Association. This has been much appreciated by students and Association members alike for networking and we encourage you to support it with a voluntary additional donation to help cover the costs of those students attending (including their travel).

We do hope that you will be able to join us for what is usually a most enjoyable evening.

To reserve, please return the form below with a cheque for the appropriate amount or by paying online via the events page of the Association website ( in both cases by Monday 30th October. We recommend booking as early as possible as places are limited.
